1/ Ripple Partners with Onafriq for Global Remittance Solutions. 🌍
Ripple has partnered with Onafriq, a Johannesburg fintech company that operates in 40 countries across Africa. The partnership is aimed at creating a blockchain-based remittance corridor between Africa and the UK, the Gulf Region, and Australia. The alliance includes companies from all the targeted countries. In the UK, a partnership is made with PayAngel, in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) with Pyypl, and with Zazi Transfer in Australia.
The partnership will make cross-border funds transfer cheaper and more efficient. Ripple is also expanding its customer base in Africa, and Onafriq's coverage of 90% of the continent's foreign exchange market will help Ripple's cause.
2/ Binance Unveils Self-Custody Crypto Wallet with Airdrop Zone. 📢
Binance has launched a new self-custody crypto wallet called the Binance Web3 Wallet. The wallet uses multi-party computation (MPC) to simplify the onboarding process for new users, who no longer need to use a seed phrase. Instead, the wallet generates three separate key-shares, one of which is held by Binance, one is on the user's device, and the third is encrypted and saved on iCloud or Google Drive. The wallet also features an integration with Binance Bridge, a curated selection of decentralized applications (dapps), and an "Airdrop Zone" for exclusive airdrops.
3/ Bitcoin Overtakes Ethereum in NFT Sales for the First Time. 📈
Bitcoin NFT sales surpassed Ethereum NFT sales for the first time on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. Over a 24-hour period, Bitcoin-based NFT transactions amounted to $17.17 million, eclipsing Ethereum's $15.77 million. This surge in Bitcoin NFT sales follows a recent downturn in activity, but with a notable increase in daily mints since October 24. While Ethereum still holds the lead in weekly NFT sales, Bitcoin's 661.60% increase from the prior week suggests continued growth in this area.
4/ Near and Polygon Unveil zkWASM Integration. 🔒
Near and Polygon have joined forces to integrate zero-knowledge (zk) proofs with WebAssembly (WASM), revolutionizing blockchain development. This partnership introduces zkWASM, enabling simplified validation for Near's layer-1 validators and empowering developers to code beyond Solidity. An interoperability layer is also being developed to connect WASM chains on Near with Polygon's CDK chains, fostering liquidity and composability with Ethereum.
Conclusion:
The blockchain industry is constantly evolving, with new partnerships, innovations, and trends emerging all the time. Ripple's partnership with Onafriq to create a blockchain-based remittance corridor between Africa and the UK, the Gulf Region, and Australia, Binance's launch of a new self-custody crypto wallet, Bitcoin's overtake of Ethereum in NFT sales, and Near and Polygon's unveiling of zkWASM integration. These developments are all indicative of the continued growth and potential of the blockchain industry.
